To be fair, MS Word and Excel were both originated by Microsoft, and on the Mac first. Those two programs were true "killer" applications for the Mac. They essentially buried Lotus 1,2,3 and WordPerfect. Unfortunately, the latest versions are bloated and not very friendly to use. Hopefully Office 98 is better.
