I saw an article a while back saying that Win98 would come out on time

When has Microsoft ever released anything on time? I think it is either:

1) Get it out quickly (and very buggy) before DOJ can take action, or

2) Pretend it's going to be released on time so that Microsoft can raise holy hell when the DOJ "forces" it to be released later, claiming that to delay the release is a major blow to the free market in the U.S., sets a bad example for the rest of the world when it comes to government interference in private business, and causes irreparable harm to Microsoft and its multitude of shareholders (who happen to be be voters). If MSFT has a major correction and Gates puts money into a PR campaign to convince everyone that it was caused by the occupants of Moron, D.C. you can bet that the switchboards would light up.

Good plan.
