EHF: No problem - really! Briefing.com's take on the semiconductor sector: --- Brief: The bad news: AMD, INTC, MOT and TXN have all issued earnings warnings this week... The good news: the industry is getting its bad news out of the way early... You have to find you're silver linings where you can... Seriously, fears of excess supply and deteriorating earnings growth will keep group on the defensive at least until the actual earnings data start to be released, at which time we will probably witness a buy on the fact recovery rally... But the numbers aren't due for several weeks... In the meantime, it's going to be ugly... Intel will continue to slash prices on its Pentium class chips in order to spur demand... The resulting price war will do serious damage to the recovery prospects of AMD and National Semi... Weakness in the cellular/wireless markets not good news either... Overall, there won't be many winners over the short-run. ----
