Not many traders use ADX like I now do...Jeff Cooper is a big fan of it...I like to buy stocks when the ADX is strengthening in the early 20's...If ADX pauses for a day no problem, the stock is resting...
But if it moves down when the +D1 is still positive over the -D1, then it tells me a stumble in the upward trend....
Same way on strong ADX with a stock in downtrend....When ADX weakens, it tells me it is time for a kick up in price...
Finally, when ADX has been going down for a significant time, and you have a kick upward in the ADX, and significant volume as well, looks like reversal time and change in trend....

You need to combine the use of oscillators with ADX, and study the peaks to see if they are higher than in the past...

Also, you must study overhead, to determine stopping point for stock...

Trading for A Living by Elder
and Technical Analysis from A to Z by Achelis is a good starting point, as well as anything that Cooper writes...He is the best...
