Why Big 3 are Showing Cards

It appears that high mpg and fuel efficiency is getting more and more attention in the media. Chrysler unveiled its new fuel efficient Intrepid and now Ford is hyping its Navistar relationship.

Politically they must placate those who will accuse the Big 3 of failing to keep up with and DEPLOYING technology. The media will become BAAT's ally if a mpg war and a one upsmanship can be instigated. This will depend on the American public's interest (and demands) in the fuel efficiency/mpg issue. Rest assured that many of the public (as well as Ford, GM, and Chrysler shareholders)are now wondering why a litle unknown company can get 95 mpg when the Big Three cannot. The latest press releases are a defensive PR from Ford and Chrysler. The big three will resist an mpg tech war, but they will pay lip service to anyone who will listen.

All of this means nothing if BAAT cannot get its technology into Mack, Allied Signal or any other MAJOR player.

On a side note regarding GM and Daewoo..Pontiac has already used Daewoo to produce small cars...note that the models sold here are low end to what you can purchase in Korea. Ssangyong (another Korean car manufacturer) builds one of the world's finest SUV's- very expensive, very nice. It comes equipped with a Mercedes diesel.... a gas engine is not available because a gas engine with low mpg would be not be economical. A fully equipped Ssangyong runs above $60,000 US (before the Won crashed).

The media revelations by the Big Three indicates to me that BAT Intl. has not gone unnoticed and they (big 3) are clearly on the defensive. Unfortunatley, attention does not equate into $$$.BAAT has an opportunity, but they will have to play their cards right. I look forward to seeing a patent filing anouncement(that includes the firm prosecuting the patent) and financials.
