March 6, 1998 First Phase Exploration Symbol: MAD.V Completed in Sonora, Mexico Form 20F: 0-27760
The Company is pleased to announce that it has completed the first phase of field work on the recently acquired project in Sonora, Mexico.
This thirty-day exploration program detailed seven square kilometres of highly prospective ground within the twenty square kilometre concession and performed reconnaissance exploration on the remainder. The program consisted of taking over 1500 soil and rock samples, conducting detailed geologic mapping, and completing a ground magnetometer survey over a grid of 80 line-kilometres. All samples are being analysed by Intertec Testing Services Bondar Clegg for gold plus 31 element ICP to indicate at least silver, copper, lead, zinc, and arsenic.
The Sonora property has a history of local, small scale, high grade gold and silver mining; some activity as recently as eight years ago. Preliminary soil samples previously taken resulted in 50+ ppb gold in soil anomalies extending for 500m along strike of a mineralized zone. Numerous grab and channel samples previously taken indicated values of up to 30 grams gold per tonne and over 500 grams silver per tonne. Data from this first phase exploration program has verified and expanded the values from previous sampling. Several new highly prospective targets have also been recognised. Based on the encouraging results to date the Company has staked an additional 1870 ha of surrounding ground, increasing the total size of the claim to approximately 3,870 ha (38.7 sq/km).
The Company is currently receiving, plotting and evaluating the results from the program. This data will be released once compiled and interpreted.
The Sonora project was acquired by staking and is not subject to any underlying royalties or payments.
