Microsoft backs away from deals news.com

Repeatedly and adamantly, chief executive Bill Gates defended Microsoft's business practices and denied any wrongdoing in Senate testimony this week. Outside the political spotlight, however, his company is quietly backing away from some of the deals that drew much of the government's scrutiny in the first place.

But of course it's all unrelated to the ongoing antitrust investigations. Just like with the EU. Part of the Enchanting Bill Fred Moody's so taken with:

Gates has long been well known for his engaging and often-frightening candor.

Some new definition of candor here, I guess. If this is candor, I'd agree it's frightening.

Cheers, Dan.
