Welcome to Washington, eh? At a recent hearing, some agency officials were still saying that the job could be done using current appropriations. They won't be able to change their tune until OMB blesses it, and OMB won't shake their holy water until the WH says so. Who is to blame? Who cares! Just get it done! IMHO.

House due to pass (passed?) H.R. 3280, giving the Ag Dept. CIO more authority to control IT budgets, with an eye toward managing Y2K. Too little, too late? At least a step in the right direction.

You asked a while back re the status of our Y2k portfolios. Mine is up 25 percent since about mid-97. My better picks: MIFGY, MAST and CBSL . Some of the dogs = SAA, DDIM.
