Can anyone explain the P/E disparity between MSFT & INTC (~40 vs ~19
for most recent quarter)? I heard it was because analysts valued
MSFT's better track record, but I compared the performance of
investments made for intervals from 20 months to 60 months (using
SI's neat charting tools) & found that INTC consistantly performed
better. Part of this, obviously, is that intel just had a really good
quarter, which makes investments ending today look better, but this
quarter seems to leave INTC on the same growth curve it has been
following (in the loosest sense of the word following) for the last 5
years.

Here are the percentage gains listed on the 20mo to 60mo charts:
20 30 40 50 60
INTC 182% 269% 310% 677% 1009%
MSFT 119% 198% 214% 270% 341%

I'm a newby. Please be kind. I really want to understand. Maybe its
like the beer commercial says: "why ask why".
