BackWeb, Verity plan integration pact By Brian Hannon, PC Week Online 03.06.98 1:17 pm ET BackWeb Technologies this morning announced an arrangement with Verity Inc. (VRTY) that is expected to result in enhanced functionality for users of their products.
BackWeb officials said the company's push program, BackWeb 4.0 Infocenter, will be layered on top of Verity Agent Server through a "connector" that combines Verity's knowledge collection back end with BackWeb's distribution capabilities.
The integration with Verity will enable BackWeb to distribute information to remote destinations such as dynamic Web pages and ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) compliant databases.
The integrated software, which will be distributed through CDs and made available for download by the end of next week, runs approximately $300 per seat, the combined price of both products.
"It's just one level extra of efficiency" for information delivery to clients, said BackWeb Director of Business Development Mikki Nasch.
The technology will be on display next week at the Internet World show in Los Angeles.
In other push news expected at Internet World, Internet Image Inc. will announce the availability of TargetLink 1.0. The Java-based product deploys information and software over the Internet and intranets and includes management capabilities via a technology called "BeyondPush."
