Re: INTC vs AMD: The timing of Intel's announcement was certainly curious and a matter of some debate here on this thread, but in light of your post now makes perfect sense.
I really have to wonder why Intel choose to drop this bombshell, AND follow it up with a doom and gloom interview by Barrett (to the effect that the Sub-$1K market is ALSO getting hammered), just days after AMD filed its shelf registration. Could it be that this shower of cold water will certainly make it MUCH harder for AMD to sell its stock? Find new investors? Who in their right mind would buy AMD's newly issued debt or stock when the sky is falling? Indeed, this week alone stock-price wise, AMD has suffered disproportionately than Intel: -25% vs -10%. Viewed in this light, Intel's actions make perfect sense! Brilliant even! Of course, this is a strategy which could never be enunciated or publicly commented on, for fear of anti-trust concerns.
What do you all think?
