SUNWEST DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT SIGNED
VICTORIA, B.C., March 5, 1998 - ESI Environmental Sensors Inc. (the "Company" / "ESI") is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a distribution agreement to represent SUNWEST TECHNOLOGIES, INC. ("SUNWEST") in Canada. The Company will also work on a non-exclusive basis with SUNWEST to develop the American market.
American-based SUNWEST manufactures a family of Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers which are used to measure ocean current data at many levels simultaneously, in addition to monitoring a ship's speed relative to the sea floor while the ship is underway. The instruments are normally mounted on the ship's hull.
In other news, ESI announced today that the Company will meet with its Oil Well Water Sensor project team to review Second Phase test results on March 27th, at the Company's headquarters in Victoria. The meeting, originally set for March 6th, was delayed two weeks to allow new partner representatives to become familiar with the project. CS Resources Limited and Wascana Energy Inc., two of ESI's oil company partners, were each recently involved in corporate re-organizations, resulting in new personnel being appointed to the project team. Though the team meeting has been delayed, development work and product testing on the Oil Well Water Sensor is ongoing and on schedule.
The Oil Well Water Sensor is designed to measure the water content of an oil well's flow. Following the successful completion of a first round of tests, the model was sent to the Saskatchewan Research Council where further in-pipeline trials have been conducted to confirm the sensor's flow properties and responsiveness. A second model is undergoing further testing at ESI's facility in Victoria. The results of these tests will be reviewed at the meeting.
The Company currently has two Canadian oil company partners in this development project and management is currently negotiating further oil company partnerships. ESI will be the sole owner of the Oil Well Water Sensor with delivery of commercial units anticipated by the end of 1998
