In two words, bottom fishing Some people are really convinced of a 10,000 DOW and that this is a good time to pick up stocks cheap and all the rest of it. I can't really blame them. Greed is such a powerful inducement to errors in judgement. Look what it has done to Engel. Its completely warped his personality. He used to be such a sweet kid. And with all these self-interested people telling the average investor that the market can only go up and up and up. Very few people have the background in economics that it takes to understand what is really happening. I try to reach my opinions honestly and I have to do an awful lot of searching for information. After all they don't call economics the dismal science for nothing. ===================== I'll give you an example. How do people feel about the government taking public money and investing it in the stock market to raise the market? Well its being seriously considered in Japan. Hey why no take that Postal Savings money and dump it into those worthless stocks. If the suckers knew the half of it they would turn off the TV.
