Kerm / "It's always good to take some profits."

Hi Kerm. Haven't posted lately, but wanted to take issue with your comment, "It's always good to take some profits."

Seems to me that one must always evaluate one's options against one's investment objectives and the degree of risk involved. In other words, the *only reason to sell a stock is because cash is more valuable* than the stock. Cash may indeed be more valuable at certain times and cases, including:

1. to preserve capital if correction anticipated;
2. to earn interest;
3. to fund other stock purchases with greater potential for appreciation / better yield;

So I think selling Vermilion is fine if the cash can be put to better use, but not just for taking profits.

Happy investing,

stephen (neither long nor short on VRM)
