Trey,

<<simply put, the bells want the TXN solution. they dont want to have to spend tons of money both in personel and hardware to upgrade chips.>>

What makes you think RBOCs care about the chip from TXN ?
Why not from ADI or LSI or AMD or MOT or Rockwell ?

What bothers me in TXN is that they package ADSL with their DSP processor, as though they are trying to push DSPs more then ADSL modems. And I do not know if DSP approach is better then a specialty ADSL chip. It sounds like doing all graphics processing with Pentium, instead of a special grafics chip.

In addition I have read complains from VLSI, LSI and CY when they were sued by TXN, that TXN is not in the business of making chips but rather collecting the roylties (BTW TXN lost this court battle). Maybe this is why they bought AMTX??
