Margaret, Frank and All. Just returned from a 2 day trip to Ocean City Md. We had decided this quite a while ago but I can tell you that I would have loved to cancel it after Intel did their announcement after the market closed on Wednesday. But, friends were involved and not that much I could do anyway.

I have read all the posts and know the answers you got on your warrants. Ok. First of all, and it is a little scolding, I have put on to the thread for over a week about converting the warrants, especially if they have to be sold in an IRA. It would have been nice to sell some warrants when they went quite high a week ago. I talked and talked and even said not to wait for the last week because there is a saying: Crap happens. Well, crap happened.

I know you got advice from your broker and you know therefore that you have to sell something 3 days before converting. The money has to be in the account and it takes 3 days before you can use it to convert. If you convert all your warrants, it is best to sell the stock since this will give you more cash unless you have a deal where you can sell up to a certain amount for the same commission. In that case it does not matter what you sell, warrants or stock. But if you have to pay commission for each 100 shares you sell you would definitely sell the stock because the conversion is free or only costs you so much no matter how many warrants you convert. When I converted, I did not sell any Intel. I sold other stocks, some of my PBI. Of course this was a mistake in hindsight.

Ok, we are all in deep do-do again with Intel, like someone posted, but it will come back. It made a good attempt today but then of course CPQ came out with another warning after the bell. No earnings for the next quarter. Wow.

I guess I will still have to write a post to Frank. Can't believe he is that upset. Now, I am upset that the announcement came after the market closed and today CPQ did the same. I do think this practice should be stopped. I don't care how the stock gyrates if they announce during the day. It does it after the market closes and nothing we can do. I would not have sold anyhow, you could be whipsawed terribly, but there is a chance sometimes to pick some up when it is way down.

But replacing CEO's IMO will not do the trick. Technology and the way business is being handled is moving pretty rapidly and things happen everyday. AMD is down the drain and then IBM or CPQ makes a deal with them which helps them out and in turn can hurt Intel for a while. CPQ said it had slower PC sales. Maybe they did not sell as many because some of the ones they had plenty of were not that much in demand and the ones someone wanted, they did not have enough of.

You can't always blame the CEO's. Look what happened to IBM once, DEC,Apple, AT&T, Novell, 3Com, Amat,Mu, Nvls, Quantum, SEG, APM, Qcom, Nations Bank, Nike, Wells Fargo, remember when all the Pharmaceuticals went down to nothing? I could go on for hours. Intel and CPQ have done great for their investors for a long time. Dell is not being hurt yet, hm, but all they have to do is put things together what other cos. produce. It is just a bit easier. And what kind of a CEO should we get? Chainsaw Dunlop? He made another deal with Sunbeam for the next 3 years. gg.

I really do think that Intel announced early enough. And they have been warning all along that things will be flat and investors did not listen and drove the stock up. Well, now it looks like it may not just be flat but down. Maybe things turn around in the next cpl. of weeks and they will get big orders. Probably wishful thinking. I had put a post onto the thread about Intel when Teradyne went down. I stated that there was something fishy going on in my mind. I said Teradyne is a chip equipment tester and when Intel pushed an order back, it looked to me that Intel was either bringing a chip out later or did not sell enough chips, hence the push back of an order to Teradyne. CPQ announced twice now, once at this peculiar conf.call and now today. I don't know why they did not come out with it at that conf.call earlier this week. I bought some of my CPQ back too early. But I will be holding. Dell is going down and up every single day lately. Frank, have you noticed? Up 10 one day, down 8 the next, then up again 7 and down after the market because of CPQ. I don't think Dell will surprise us, but if they do, they can tell us very quickly. They have no channel backlogs. They receive their orders every day and therefore know exactly how much they sell. It is diff. with Intel and CPQ. More though with Intel.
Intel is still 9 points higher than before Christmas. Maybe not 9 anymore on Monday. I think Intel went down also after the market closed. I am not happy, but crap happens. Frank, relax. Intel will get back on track, hopefully soon.

Ok Margaret, I am putting all this on your post because I am very tired and hopefully everyone reads it. I will write it to you, Frank and all instead just to you. I did not make a draft of this post, I never do, so you all had to wade through all of this unless you gave up and then you will not see this apology for rambling on. I am just trying to help and calm all our nerves.

I would not have to do this Frank if you had kept your cool. gg. And you better keep your cool if you have other techs. Just remember if something ever happens to Msft. They have been warning forever about a slowdown and nobody listens to them either. One of these days a warning may just be that, a warning. It looks good but you never know what outside forces can do to a company. I even believe that Intel got off track a bit because of worrying about the same thing Msft is accused of. Having to worry about the DOJ, suits and all kinds of stuff can make you cautious and end up hurting the business. Too bad that successful cos. have to look constantly over their shoulders.
