But you should be thankful for the protection this fear of litigation now provides. I am certainly no fan of the out of control litigation mess and have myself been a victim of this system. But with the Republican backed conversion of our health care delivery system to the avaricious and near criminal abuses of managed care, the threat of legal action is now the ONLY** thing (other that the personal consciences of health care professionals) keeping us from even more abominations at the hands of the managed care industry. The poor hospitals are walking along a narrow line, cutting personnel and costs to try to survive, and facing incredible lawsuits when the inevitable mistakes occur. Would you be happy if Delta airlines decided to save money by replacing the copilot with one of the stewardesses? Jack
