Two comments about Elaine:

1. Elaine does a lot of Macro theory. Her model very often runs off of what she believes is the value of the long bond and in what direction she feels that the long bond will go in the future. She then makes her Macro (stock market) recommendation on whether stocks are under/overvalued in relation to the return on the long bond. When she ran the mutual fund at Shearson, she just picked sectors that she felt would do well, but only purchased stocks that were rated #1 or #2 in that sector by the Shearson stock analysts. Her fund didn't do well not because she was incorrect at picking sectors, but because she herself ddn't pick the stocks in the sector that woudl be in the fund.

2. She has been reliable in her short and long term views of the market direction based on her Macro model.

3. Jimmy Rodgers should be watched purely for entertainment value. His brain is an encyclopedia, he knows the world, and markets. No one is correct all of the time, not even Jimmy--but the problem is that Jimmy thinks that he is always correct.
