Hi Gary, >>doesnt japan in a way have us hostage?

You are correct. You mentioned your concern about the markets. I personally don't think the markets should be a concern in Washington. i.e. people who invest in the markets get what they deserve, just like real estate investors in the 80's. The problem is Japan could throw the US and Europe into economic chaos. They could have been on the track to do that with Asia but things went south. This could be a short lived phenomena. Japan is an export economy and until they can prop up new export nations they will not do anything stupid. There is no doubt in my mind that they will not develop a consumer culture. They need the western consumer at the moment. Just wait until they don't need him/her. In my opinion we better get our house in order before this happens. In capitalism large debt is always a down fall. It is just the way the game is played.
