Jim, according to the PUG version of this release, that brings to total of kimberlites to 20 (bear in mind that now K-5a,b and K-14a,b,c are now considered to be 2 complexes, tmk).
Here is that excerpt that differs from ACA news, taken from the PUG NR (found here-- pugres.com ): Reverse-circulation drill holes on aeromagnetic anomalies in areas 30 kilometres east and southeast of kimberlite K-14 have discovered four more kimberlites additional to the two reported on February 26, 1998, bring the total to six new kimberlites discovered to date in the 1998 winter programme and an overall total of 20 kimberlites for the Buffalo Hills Project.
Also, there's a little more description of K-91 rig in the PUG release: The collection of larger samples from kimberlites K-14 and K-91 is presently underway. Two reverse circulation drills are employed to collect the larger sample on kimberlite K-14, while a different drill rig capable of both larger diameter core and rotary holes is presently collecting a mini bulk sample of approximately 40 tonnes on K-91
--note the absence (in the PUG release) of the Ashton reported operational problems on K-14 . . . -------------- --------------- Those 3 good sized macros from K-5 complex are interesting. Of course no mention of quality in the NR. Some K-5 points to ponder (and this is just one pipe, folks): - the deposit is vast, measuring across something like 1300m x 700m - most of the anomaly at surface is under less than 15m of overburden - the 3 largest macros recovered were near and above an arbitrary economic pit cut-off of 1.5mm (depending on quality) - they were all found in 4t of pit samples (potential for open pit mine) - the six drillcore samples (3.5t) came up empty ---- - merely throwing out some thoughts. - - - - - - - - - - Say, Jim, if you wanted to post this K-5 mag.anomaly image (aqcuired at the Yorkton pres'n last wk), for viewing at your website, I could scan it in and email it to you as an attachment (just a thought). - Let me know if so: jesse@telusplanet.net - - - - -
K-91 minibulk-- "approx." 40 tonnes (likely closer to 50t). They are pulling some good samples out of that puppy.
Best to all, -j :>
PS-- "operational" delays at K-14 -- doesn't really concern me. It might if it were a shoddy company, but since it is Ashton ... and who's to say how much they've already gotten, of the projected 500+ tonnes. ____ -just my take on a couple things |
