INTEL CORP President Barrett only said "IN THE SHORT TERM, IN THE 1Q
the orders were not as robust as we thougt"
that does not necessarily mean that the next quarters may be "not as robust as
they thought" too!
the question is now whether the upsurge to $78 was only a technical reaction.
most analysts have not downgraded intel and still think intel could earn about
$4 next year.
but maybe they have not downgraded intel so strong, because most of them
set intel on their buy or strong buy list the last months and therefore won't
admit that they were so wrong with their opinion. they perhaps also want
a chance to get rid of their huge intel positions at prices above $77.

whatever the analyste will play, intel is a great stock and will remain a monopolist.
intel investments will pay out in the next years.

* INTEL CORP President Craig Barrett said that he could not
explain why orders for the company's microprocessors have been
slower than expected in the 1Q. "I don't think anybody knows,"
Barrett told Reuters. "All we can say is our orders from our major
OEMs (computer manufacturers) were not as robust as we thought
they would be in the short term, in the 1Q." (Reuters 11:14 AM ET
