Gary,
We each have our opinions. However, I've been a MSFT shareholder for many years and am familiar with Mr. Gates and his key Lieutenant's stated plans for the future. I have been aware for the past three years that voice technology is targeted by MSFT as a strategic imperative. In fact, you can read in MSFT's last annual report that "linguistics" is ranked as one of the top three initiatives for the company. One can also focus specifically on some of the following:
a. via the words of Nathan Myringold head of Research at MSFT b. via the huge R&D dollars that MSFT is pouring into this area c. via its inhouse research in Renton, WA and most recently the founding of a new reseach department in Cambridge, England d. Investments and partnerships with LHSPF: Lernout En Hauspie
So yes, MSFT is interested in and will make plays in Voice Technology. However, it is also clear that MSFT is not beating on the door of or making fast tracks to Fonix. If they have, please post some links from Business Week, Fortune, Forbes, CNNFN, MSFT or Fonix homepage that show this. If I'm wrong I would like to know about it.
I will also say that I have some shares in FONIX just in case they do ever end up going somewhere. If MSFT should make agreements with them in the future that is great. However, I often wonder about the motives of those engaged in hyperbole and take a dim view of those that tout stocks, especially stocks that are lower priced.
Some of your recent posts regarding links between MSFT and Fonix in my opinion are unfounded - others on the thread, especially those that don't own Fonix should be aware of this fact. |
