Mike as you said DELL got lucky.....their model of JIT worked fantastic in the last 2 years when the component prices were dropping weekly. Since CPQ and others could not take advantage of it....they could not drop their prices so DELL didn't have to and was able to maintain big profits.

Now it looks like the component prices are going back to their normal decline rate or even stabilizing....this should again level the field between the PC makers.....DELL's margins may be coming down sooner than later. However, Pentium prices still have a way to go on the down side.
