Okay, Mike, thanks for being brave enough to discuss this subject publicly.
Everyone, Mike is a Christian and lives in the middle of the country, and I am a pagan who lives in San Francisco. Obviously there is a lot of anti-homosexual feeling in America, and a lot of hate crimes against homosexuals, but since I am from a gay mecca where almost everyone has openly gay friends, and there is a gay parade every year, and gay neighborhoods, it is really hard to understand from this place how polarized some of us are about this in other parts of the country.
There has been a little previous discussion of this issue at Feelings because of that 60 Minutes episode which brought forth the statistics that one third of all teenage suicides are homosexual children, and that fully 1/4 of all parents who discover their children are gay immediately order them to leave home. So you can see that emotions really run high on this issue, and that lives are being affected, often adversely. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to discuss.
Because I am not a Christian, Mike, I do not understand exactly how much of the negative feelings towards gays are based on the Bible. I have a lot of questions about this issue, and my own opinions, but I thought it would be logical to establish first just what the Bible says about homosexuals.
Please go slow, because I don't have much knowledge on the religious background of this subject.
