You were asking a little while ago about how the dealers feel right now. This is a recent post on a thread I share with other dealers and owners. Security once meant a company had integrity!!! Some companies would have you believing security monitoring is like using a phone? I think this is going to lead us all into very close partnerships in the future. Rogers now knows this and is building on it. Counterforce must build On the group they have now. I feel in both marketing and programs to Combat any market share loss potential. Message
Read the latest on NG and thought I recognized what I had sent to you in it. Possibly not! What I said was that they had contacted a DVAC customer who has Sur-Gard panel and leased line and subset and said that they would Replace it for free with a digital transmitter. The telemarketer told my customer that the system was ULC "listed" or "approved" (don't know which he said [and yes, I do know what is correct]). The telemarketer faxed my customer a "Changeover Quotation" and a sheet outlining the benefits of ULC and a sample certificate that he said was for the system that they would be installing. It was to be $16.00 total, no extras, operating, and was for an unspecified time period. There is a box that contains the words "Monthly Monitoring Fee ""?"" Month Term".........$16.00. I take this as not being a time limited offer but one that they are saying is permanent. My customer went nuts, called me, I talked to her for a period and I called VSN. The telemarketer said that the ULC certificate would be issued for the digital installation. When I asked pointed and specific questions about the ULC certificate of the telemarketer I was then referred to the VSN station manager who said his employee was in error and said that there would be no certificate, but all prices were accurate. My customer was told by their insurance carrier that they had to have the DVAC setup as it existed, and then understood that they were comparing apples and oranges. (No, make that lemons). I kept the customer, both at work and home, and they will be telling other business persons to watch out for this enticing and possibly dangerous offer from VSN-Bell. (The VSN telemarketer said that they were a branch of Bell, which may be a sort of violation of CRTC of other rule.) If this is the situation you mentioned in the NG, please be advised that I am prepared to say it again to anyone who is in the trade and needs to know. I have a full copy of the fax sheets that were sent by VSN to my customer and if you like I will photocopy them (less my customers name etc) and mail them to you. Need an address if this is the case.
I will not be letting the documentation I have out of my possession, but it is at your disposal.

In my opinion this type of action is going to hurt Bell Canada in the long run but we have to deal with it now!! The good thing is it will make us much stronger and I have already found the security companies getting better themselves.
We have solutions we have to get them in place ASAP. |
