Jan, Look forward to seeing the monkey cartoon!
The best argument for putting most of your research time into TA vs. FA is the fact that the majority of fund managers fail to beat the S&P500 year after year. These guys (and girls) spend most of their time calling companies to talk about sales, digging into financial statements looking for an edge, and following analyst's projections.
Value Line has some computer model that consistently picks stocks that outperform the market. It seems that 30 cents a week spent at the local library copying the latest Value Line 1 & 2 stock groups is all the FA we need. The second best argument for putting most of the time into TA is the consistently reliable sell signals that a good TA method such as Point & Figure gives.
Just my opinion.

Have a good weekend.
