Seriously, I don't think Eckhard's ego allowed him to believe that the demand curve could flatten as it did. Also, I believe CPQ is losing it on the marketing end. Would you buy Dell or CPQ? Did you read SmartMoney's article reviewing laptops--Dell was first and Compaq a dismal last. Their product was really panned and they raved about Dell's support. My brother-in-law is a salesman for a large food service company. He lugs a laptop around all day. He won't let go of his Dell. Its like my old Volvo--it won't die!

I like Compaq, but I wouldn't buy one. Would you?
