SECzebra - Re: "Paul, in the past I have disagreed with a few of your posts among other things but my apologies!"

Apology accepted.

By the way - you're not the only one who has disagreed with some of my posts!

Re: "someone will get fired big time on this one and it may be the bossman himself."

In 1991/1992, Rod Canion - Compaq's FOUNDER - was ousted in a similar situation - but at that time, Canion got the heave-ho because he wanted to MAINTAIN COMPAQ as a high priced, premium brand PC manufacturer. Ben Rosen said that Compaq had to change to get competitive.

Hence, Rosen tossed out Canion and replaced him with Pfeiffer who had been with Compaq since the very early days. By that stretch, Pfeiffer seems to have followed the path outlined by Rosen and the board. His deals with AMD and Cyrix, however, illustrate his penchant for showing the world he is his own man, not Intel's puppet.

However, his strings may be pulled now that Compaq is in a precarious position - especially with the DEC deal hanging over their head.
