Compaq's CFO told the San Jose Mercury News that if all goes as expected Compaq will be in good shape (inventory wise) by the end of the second quarter.

Big IF ALL in that statement.
JMHO - problems with INTC, CPQ and CPU are indicative of the industry. The lower margins and soft demand for cheaper machines will hurt other chip makers and box-sellers.
Additional demand will be driven by newer and better game software in time for Christmas selling season. I expect CPQ to close near 24 1/2 on Monday.
