I understand that one of the major problems with cable modems is that they require a skilled technician to install them at the user's site. This installation may take several hours and requires changes to the operating system. (IRQ's, IO ports, etc.)

I also understand that with the chipset that is being developed for ADSL that it will be similar to installing a modem on your machine any most people can do it themselves.

Can anyone verify that this is the case. Assuming it is true it seems that ADSL will have a definite advantage.
