Silly posts and great numbers.

I agree Justa that we should try and back down from the pissing contests (which isn't always easy). Also, I will try and ignore the childish posts that add little substance and thus lead the way in discouraging these posts.

As to integrity of public figures, for comparison sake, read this article on Michael Murphy's Technology Letter: members.aol.com

$27.50 for his book or $295 a year for the newsletter that had a total return in 1997 of negative36.7%!!! HE has some really interesting ideas that have gotten alot of positive press lately such as combining EPS and R&D spending to evaluate companies. What gets me is how the press can give him such great reviews while his numbers are putrid. He has 3 mutual funds, all down last year as well. Murphy also publishes Overpriced Stock Service, which he touts as "the premier short-selling investment advisory newsletter in the world." Hulbert's numbers for that newsletter: down 16 percent for one year, down 85 percent for three years, and down 89 percent for five. One really begins to understand Bob's disdain for these guys "driving around in their Lamborghinnis" while they suck away capital from the unsuspecting investors that are paying them to invest their money.

Final note, I just calculated annual return for Portfolio #3. Over 10 yrs, $40K grew to $96,814 which gives 9.24%. This is great for a portfolio that is 50% in fixed income with a beta of 0.43.

regards
Kirk out
