Thanks for the article.

I agree wholeheartedly that COMPAQ's problems are multifaceted, especially in comparison with Intel's.

On top of all the underpinning factors already alluded to, I also heard that Eckhard and friends aren't working very hard to rectify the negative PR currently permeating the market, for they actually need the sentiment support for (possibly) laying off massive number of (DEC mostly) employees.

With such uncertainties in business outlook, Pfeiffer undoubtedly has more variables to deal with (which he doesn't need) in shaping up the company's integration plan with DEC.

Periodically, CPQ succeeded in working itself into a hole. (Last time was the delayed transition into the Pentium chip).
