I don't know what else to say. - si
i am sure you have more to say, you are clearly a bright and articulate person, let's continue.
first thank you for your analysis showing the chronology with years and events, this clarifies your points, this is what i expected from you. i am sure tim luke will bookmark this post and bring it out in 2001, if you prove wrong.
...take things like Video conferencing, Multimedia E-Mail, E-Commerce, FAX, etc. before the next major enmasse upgrade - did you miss this? - si
no i caught it. - fax servers have been around to long to need to upgrade, 486's would work fine for the technology. - multimedia email, and for what? and what do you propose will be in this email? video and audio? - e-commerce - why would i need a heavy duty pc for this? - video conferencing - this is more software and bandwith issue. you do not need the latest pentium.
we need ms to release another bloated operating system followed by there usual slow and bloated office products, which require a fast machine so the products can respond at a reasonable rate.
and to add a boost, we need consumers to have the dsl or cable modem solution, to even need a new pc.
Blank, you have to be seeing the Williams move, the AT&T upgrades, the big market for ASND's CBX550 OC-48 switch? You don't think this is beginning? I do. - si
unfortunately the williams contract and the current infrastructure improvements are attempts to just keep the internet moving and trying to stay ahead of demand (hence the term World Wide Wait), as we have more and more people joining. the current upgrades will prove to be inadequate if the 56k and 28.8 users moved to a high speed technology. |
