After I read Eagle-Eye's comments on ENBC (Energy Biosystems), I
did a bit of due diligence expecting to find another oil-patch company
about to explode. With all due respect to Eagle-Eye, my impression is
that ENBC is a company deep in Research & Development. They
said so themselves in a 14 NOV 97 SEC Form 10-Q:

"Since its inception in December 1989, the Company has devoted substantially all resources to its research and development. To date, all of the Company's revenues have resulted from interest and investment income and sponsored research payments from collaborative agreements. The Company has incurred cumulative net losses since inception and expects to incur substantial losses for at least the next several years, due primarily to the increase in its research and development activities and acceleration of the development of its biocatalyst, fermentation and bioreactor programs. The Company expects that losses will fluctuate from quarter to quarter and that such fluctuations may be substantial. As of September 30, 1997 the Company's accumulated deficit was $51,945,768. "

In an 11 DEC 97 press release, they confirmed that a pilot plant
improved desulfurization performance to a "40% decrease in sulfur"
with the same throughput of 4 barrels a day. Four barrels a day!

This is hardly the stuff that investors' dreams are made of. RNTK has
proven, high-volume technology, and seems to be much closer to a
realistic, profitable presence in the high-rolling reaches of the oil &
gas market than ENBC.

I am not trying to diminish the significance nor the environmental
need for ENBC's desulfurization technology. It just seems to me that
RNTK is so much closer to a significant pay-off. All IMHO, of course.
