"same buttons"

And another thing. I watched as much of the Hatchet Hearings as time would allow. Stuart Alsop, said something that was very surprising at the time but upon reflection is worthy of much consideration: To the effect that, "Microsoft is a monopoly, people WANT a monopoly of the operating system."

The ease, the consistency, the commonality. Sun professes to want this but we all "know" what they really want is to tie Java to sales of SPARC. and that after everyone dumps WIN, they will make Java more proprietary.

Gates for some reason did not answer the question of why Windows beat Apple. Apple was a PROPRIETARY operating system. That is the END of the message.

The real problem is, if the operating system is like the dial tone, Congress may try to make it a government controlled "utility". The problem with this is that it took the phone companies 30 years to deploy ISDN and US Robotics took 30 minutes to develop x2.

EOR (end of rant)
