Sun professes to want this but we all "know" what they really want is to tie Java to sales of SPARC. and that after everyone dumps WIN, they will make Java more proprietary. Gates for some reason did not answer the question of why Windows beat Apple. Apple was a PROPRIETARY operating system. That is the END of the message. The real problem is, if the operating system is like the dial tone, Congress may try to make it a government controlled "utility".
