Checkfree contacts the recipient of the payment, if they can accept an electronic payment then CF completes the transaction with a transfer. If not, CF issues them a check. For being supposedly "High Tech" I believe most of the phone companies won't accept an electronic transfer.
After the payment CF contacts your bank and your account is debited.
I also am long on Checkfree, I am worried about Microsoft. I hope they only have vaporware at this time
