While websites contain most of the graphics today, E-Mail has remained mostly text.

si has remained text, they won't even allow for color fonts. unfortunately you do not have an email address in your profile or i would have gladly have sent you some grahic email:-) this is more a symptom of who you communicate with, and the email package one uses. graphics in email has been around.

Will Windows '98 be bloated enough for you?

no win98 is not bloated enough. i have been running win98 on one of my pc's at home, and i see no reduced performance than from win95. i am waiting for the merger of windows and nt, that will provide the bloat.

I should also add enterprise level applications as another bandwidth grabber of the near future.

most network people run the apps from the server when possible now. this is more a function of how well the server responds and network layout, and not the desktop pc, since once the app loads, minimal data is sent after that.

The Williams move is more than that - it is a grab for business away from the slower moving telcos.

i totally concur with you on this.

we shall need to wait and see if this is the "mother of all upgrades" (my words, but it is not often you have a chance to use this phrase), and not just another band-aid to try to keep up with present demands, but to meet future performance needs.
