WRONG! Like backhoes, chip making continuously gets more expensive too. It's just that you're getting more bits or MIPS per chip even faster. With fibre the theory would be you're getting more bits per second at a faster rate than the deployment price is rising. "Deployment" of a new chip factory is zooming up, not down, so it's actually very like fibre deployment. Gates is surely sharp enough to figure this out. I doubt he would have said anything of this nature so it's not exactly fair to imply he would think this by "paraphrasing" him into saying it. One opinion .... Bill
