Well, I am not at all concerned about interpretation because it's already a byte oriented, stack-based machine which will slice right through Java bytecode. From what I understand, if you squint just right, the PCP1000 looks like it was designed specifically for Java anyway.

Moving to .35 micron (about a generation behind bleeding edge) and adding cache will make it more attractive for embedded applications but there are other issues: the graphics and communications subsystems for example. I doubt anybody is going to build supporting chipsets around the PCP1000 but certainly for a stand-alone device they might -- don't forget, you have to write drivers for all that stuff, for a toaster it 'aint that bad.
