South Voisey Bay appears to have a few plusses in its favor at the start up in the spring of 1998, compared to the spring of 1997. 1. more experienced geologists - I would say standing on the ground in SVB this spring will be the most talent ever assembled on a nickel hunt in Canada for a long time. Not only do you have TECK's top guns with a track record of success all over the world, but now with Donner's recent heavyweight appointments, you also have geologists who were instrumental in successfully tracking down the nickel in the Eastern Deeps - one of the richest nickel discoveries in the world (over a 6-7 km stretch). 2. A thin layer of 12% nickel (3 1/2 ft.} the richest ever discovered in Canada. 3. A new deep drill (this rig was rumored to be too heavy for choppers to left late last fall). I would think that 12% nickel had to be injected in liquid form from some major source . When the first deep drill hole passes below that thin layer of 12% nickel seeking the motherload, it should be an interesting couple of days. I am told the whole SVB area was full of cracks and faults from the north in the Northern Abitibi/Donner region down across NDT and LAB Intl. region into the Cypress area to the south. SVB should make an for an interesting season.
