blankmind,

I have question to add to your questions. This paragraph is in the analysis:
Window-dressing is the term for investment managers dumping
stocks that lag benchmarks like the S&P500 index and buying
better performing shares to put a better gloss on their
portfolios by the quarter's end.
Analysts see a tug-of-war in the market between downward
pressure from profit warnings, and the uplift from
window-dressing helping to keep an anticipated market
correction modest.

I understand window-dressing. However would that not drive down the stocks with profit warnings further rather than try and pull them up? A "tug of war?" This does not make sense to me.

1. intel never said lower chip volume, in actuality it is not pc sales, but high-end pc sales
that have slowed.

That is correct!

2. cpq sold a record amount of pc's, unfortunately competition (others selling pc's), has
eroded into profit margins as has lower cost pc's.

This is also correct.

3.mot, on the other hand has always been a gamble, and certain production problems
(similar to asnd's old tnt problems) are there biggest problem.

This is correct and I always thought MOT warns every quarter<G>

4. how long did it take for someone to think of this analysis, real conviction?

I do not know but I suspect I could type an inaccurate analysis of that length in an hour. It is the grammar and spelling checker that would take the most time.
