Hi Denise:
<<Hi, I've been thinking about buying into NOVL this past week and started cruising this forum to read opinions. Share your thoughts on the trials and tribulations of investing. Just wanted to say, don't worry about people who may make personal attacks on one's good intentions. Happens everywhere. We need experienced investors like you who are not afraid to speak their minds on their personal views of a stock. After all, that's what we (real investors) are looking for when we visit cyber forums.
Regards,
Denise >>
Thank you for your kindness and objectivity, it makes writing worthwhile. Before buying at present price and for my money, I'll. ask;
1--How much do I know about the company; products, sales, industry, management...etc. Have I seen analysts reports? What is my investment style and expectations? How heavily am I invested in the Market and in the Tech Sector, etc. Do I have an entree price or my style does not require it? Once bought, how will I manage the position, etc.? Most importantly, DO NOT believe those claiming know how here. Look at their record. Look at all their posts here and on some other stock boards. Look at how they were calling for $6, $5, even $4 Novell.
Your are lucky you joined SI two days ago. You have nothing to worry about! Those posters who have been here for sometime (like me)have to be worried. We have a record to be read and examined! We can not hide behind new posts or poor memories or our team work and buddy-support bailing us out.
2--Now, as you know, buying at 10 plus is very different than buying in 7 dollar area. I bought most of our shares there and am in a totally different position than if I were going to initiate a new position. BTW, I never recommend a buy or sell to anyone any time anyway, but my analysis and tone would have been different and much more telling if we where back in time... Please see my posts.
The stock has run up quickly--they all run when they breakout. (I wrote about such possibility here.) At present, stock has resistance at 10 1/2, 11 and a monstrous one at 13. The sign immediately ahead reads: PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Market has also run and when it corrects--most stocks will pull back.
2--The future price direction and level of the stock, can not be assessed by reading this board. There are bulls and bears and the in betweens here. As for me, I like to think I am an INVESTOR, who respects both sides. For attacks, after thirty plus (yes 30+) years of "the school of hard knocks" in business and investing, there is very little anyone can say that really bothers me, except for my wasted time.
I also know there is a DIFFERENCE between saying something and how one feels inside, in ones heart of hearts. I have called the price moves of Novell correctly, and yet I am attacked. Why? I do not care to know, but those who read this board ought to.
3--Personally, we (my assistant who does the trades and myself) sold a number of stocks Friday to reduce our stock allocation from ninety plus percent to just below fifty percent. We believe in selling into strength and we sold ALL of our none core positions Friday.
NO, we did NOT sell Novell, but have a stop in place as not to give back all the profit. To give it all back will be a big loss in time invested, cost of overhead and money, not to speak of psychological harm of having mismanaged the position. By the way, Novell has not yet met our required Investment Criteria to become a Core Holding for us.
Finally, I am going on an overdue vacation next week and do not anticipate new positions in the Market until I return. We do not even have a research candidate at this time!
Hope to read this board in a about six weeks or so.
Regards and best of luck to you and All,
