ROVER on AOL found this. I lifted his post. It does show some shiftiness on Wired's part. Conjecture of what this means, I'll leave up to your humble opinions.

Is Wired on the Block?
Wired Ventures Inc. may be shopping its somewhat profitable albeit hugely popular Wired magazine to various publishers. Wired CEO Jeff Simon said that such a sale is only one of many options being considered, according to The Wall Street Journal. New York investment firm Lazard Freres & Co. has reportedly been hired as advisors.

The company initiated staff layoffs as recently as November. Top editorial management also was reorganized, and in December chairman Louis Rossetto stepped down as editor in chief and publisher. Earlier he had denied that any part of the company was for sale but did not comment on this latest development.
