Hi gregor, There seems to be a lot of confusion about this. If we can understand the purpose of the law and why it is passing away we can see the uselessness of giving the law and it's "trappings" any place in our lives. Why did God tear the veil when Christ died? Because now everyone could enter the Holy of Holies and touch anything! The penalties of violating God's laws were cancelled because the debts were just paid by Jesus. The debt we owed because of all our unrighteousness was paid in full on the cross. Touch the ark, nothing would happen. It's just wood and gold. God does not dwell there any longer. It's only value would be the value man gives it, it has no value to anyone who wants to draw near to God. If we are saved we have been transported out of the realm of the law. <<We are doomed to continuously and willfully sin under grace. The sufficiency of grace does not extend past the boundaries of the law.>> The sufficiency of grace does extend past the boundaries of the law. Paul discussed the conflict of two natures. The body of sin we still dwell in is the avenue for sin. We are still in that body and we sin. Paul said it is no longer him sinning put sin which dwells in him (Romans 7:14-25). The whole purpose by God of establishing the law was to illustrate to mankind our own unrighteousness and the need for Jesus. It was an educational process. It was never intended to make anyone righteous, it could not as it was (as the word says) unable to do so. It was imperfect. The law pointed to the need for Jesus. But man did not want to give up the law as Jesus said they will say the old is good enough (the parable of the wine). But the old is not good enough. Why would anyone want that? If you fail in just one thing you are guilty of the whole law. I don't want to live under that yoke and I do not! Thank God for Romans 8:1-2, Jesus has saved us from that fate. Now that the job of the law which was to educate us of our need for Jesus is done we don't need it any longer except to show us we are unworthy and could not keep it. Just as the night is the opposite of the day so the law is the opposite of Jesus. The law brings forth death, Jesus brings forth life. If anyone tries to keep the law they are attempting to show God a liar by trying to be righteous through the law. And they will fail. So with the law passing away so too are the utensils of the law passing away including the ark. It's job is done. If anyone finds it they will probably use it to reinstitute the law and sacrifices and try to attain righteousness through the law which they cannot. <<For if the law was severe in it's punishment; should punishment in the dispensation of grace be LESS severe. NAY. Every argument should be made that the penalty for repudiation of grace should be more severe.>> The penalty for repudiation of grace IS severe. It's the loss of your covering for sin. If you choose to be judged by the law of moses instead of the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus then you will not be at the marriage supper of the lamb. I choose to live under grace. Bob
