Jim - It looks to me that the following was added to the TI/AMTX release at the Telechoice site -

"Amati spokespersons emphasized that the announcement does not indicate any change in the relationship with Motorola. In fact, Amati will supply its customers with modems and systems using both chipset designs. While no availability dates have been announced, it is estimated that both the Motorola CopperGold chipset and the Amati/TI design will be available in the same time period: in or soon after the first quarter of 1997.

The announcement is considered to be very good news for Amati since it positions it as the only DMT supplier with two sources of components. Having two foundries and moreover, two core designs will enable telcos to have a backup solution; something that is desirable according to several RFPs. For more information, see:

Press Release: Amati and TI Form ADSL Development Pact -- Oct 16, 1996"

Any comments?
