CLK, this message is a response to your inquiry about conventional gas plays. Traditional oil and gas plays are formed in ancient sea or ocean floors near costal regions were coral reefs exist. Little organisims are deposited layer upon layer and compressed over time covered with a non permiable cap rock and then gas and oil are formed from the heat and pressure. Basic but I am sure you get the idea. I think coal is formed from old forests that get covered up and decompose and get compressed. Where is that train now?
