From Financial Times:

British Digital Broadcasting, the terrestrial television company,
has chosen six set top box suppliers in the run-up to the launch
of its digital service this autumn.

It said yesterday it was confident the suppliers, Grundig of
Germany, Pace of the UK, Philips of the Netherlands, Nokia of
Finland and Sony and Toshiba of Japan, would have their
systems in the shops in time for the Christmas season.

It said it was negotiating over prices and volumes and would not
discuss the value of the contracts nor numbers of boxes ordered.

Grundig and Pace will manufacturer boxes both to BDB and
BSkyB's specifications. Pace said it believed it would be the first
manufacturer to deliver the receivers. Nokia said the BDB deal
was the "most significant UK contract" in its history. It will
produce the boxes in Scotland.
