Sun is doing JavaStation, IBM/Lotus is developing for Java like crazy. And the hardware guys just make whatever sells. The problem is that MSFT doesn't want to support this as it is not in their strategic interest, and the client/server OS is the main ingredient for success. Rhapsody has the potential to change this: running MacOS-lite, Java and Unix.

Today this is true, but think forward ... if you could have access to every app (including games and movies as "software") with high-bandwidth, your conception of what you "need" from a computer will change.
