FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The comprehensive education program for ATM Year 98, the world's largest conference and exhibition that focuses exclusively on Asynchronous Transfer Mode and broadband technologies, has been expanded to meet the needs of the growing numbers of industry professionals and end-users who attend the event. This year the conference and exhibition provides an enhanced learning experience by offering both an in-depth program and real-world broadband demonstrations in the ATM Applications Showcase. The theme for the event, which runs from June 1-5 in the San Jose Convention Center, is ''Where Technology and Education Come Together.''

Known for its depth and breadth of content, the conference program is designed to help ATM enthusiasts, at all levels, learn more about the hottest breakthrough ATM technologies, latest trends, products, services, industry standards, practices and real-world broadband applications. The ATM Year 98 conference program provides two days (June 1 and 2) of 16 in-depth tutorials followed by three days (June 3-5) of concurrent conference sessions grouped into nine tracks. Due to growing interest in ATM applications, two new tracks, ATM Voice and Telephony as well as ATM and High Performance LANs, were added this year.

The conference program highlights include: three keynotes from industry leaders; an opening plenary session that focuses on the successful ATM network used by the Walt Disney Feature Animation Group; and a closing plenary session that features the Conference Chairman and track leaders discussing the most significant conclusions from ATM Year 98. Dr. John McQuillan, Founder and former Chairman of ATM Year, moderates a debate entitled Did the ATM Forum Ruin ATM? On June 3 and 4, all conference attendees can also participate in the informal Special Interest Groups from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. and the Birds-of-a-Feather sessions that run from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

The conference's world-class faculty includes the foremost ATM visionaries and specialists as well as industry leaders in applications development, carrier services, IP switches, Virtual Private Networks, networking hardware, semiconductors, ATM voice technology and many other areas.

Janet Clark, Conference Manager for ATM Year 98, said, ''The content of our educational program has evolved during the last six years, from sessions focused on ATM and broadband theories, to presentations about how the technology is used by companies to solve real business problems. We've expanded the program to reflect the intense levels of interest in ATM among end-users and industry professionals. We literally offer attendees the who, what, where, when and how of ATM.''
