A lot of people put a very sinister spin on the upgrade/downgrade game, but I think their focused on the wrong target. I don't think it's because of their big clients that they do this. I suspect it's to take care of themselves. Every time they change ratings on a stock there is a burst of volume in the stock. That translates into commissions for the brokerage houses. The more the brokers convince you to trade, the more money they make, and what better way to make you trade than to issue upgrades and downgrades? Regards, Paul
